There's a new firmware update for the Elgato 4K60 Pro MK2 capture card that has dropped this morning which introduces Variable Refresh Rate support, which is huge for anyone using a GSync/FreeSync compatible monitor.
Historically, capture cards have suffered really bad screen tearing when paired with a high refresh / variable refresh monitor where the input framecount exceeds what the capture card is able to process.
The 4K60 Pro addresses some issues with high refresh monitors, but still lacked variable refresh support for NVIDIA's variable refresh technology GSync and AMD's equivalent FreeSync.
Fortunately, I have the 4K60 Pro MK2 and updated the firmware this morning but I'll need to test it over a few days to see how we go.
The dumb version:
New capture card update for the Elgato 4K60 Pro MK2 now works with GSync/FreeSync monitors, meaning you can capture gameplay without screentearing and no longer have to cap your framerate to the max framerate of your monitor in-game or via GPU controls.
